Explore the best in Material Design at Surface Design Show 2024
Held from 6-8 February 2024 Surface Design Show will once again be showcasing the best in material innovation. A well- established part of the design calendar for nearly twenty years, the show returns to London’s Business Design Centre in February 2024. It provides the perfect opportunity for material experts, and the architectural and design community to come together under one roof.
Visitors to Surface Design Show 2024 will be inspired by new product launches focusing on colour, materiality and sustainability many of which have been designed specifically for the hospitality sector. There will also be diverse displays of surface-based installations and a comprehensive speaker programme featuring accomplished industry professionals, passionate about the future of surface design.
Located right in the heart of the exhibition, Surface Design Show welcomes back Surface Spotlight Live (SSL), an area which gives visitors a chance to touch and compare the latest material prototypes. Centred around this year’s theme, ‘Shaping Communities’, SSL will highlight the importance of new exchanges between surfaces, people and environments.
Setting the tone for the show will be the Opening Night Debate, where discussions on the balance between design intuition and analytical thinking to achieve meaningful experiences will be delved into with the show’s theme of Mindful Living. The Theme for 2024 focuses on the ambition to design well while doing good – reflecting on the growing awareness within the design and architecture communities about the impact of their work on society, the environment, and overall well-being.
Over the 2½ days, the Main Stage will host a range of debates, panels, trend forecasts and insights into the latest surface design innovations. It will also be the venue for the Legends Live series of ‘in conversations’ in partnership with Alys Bryan editor of Design Insider.
Another popular aspect of the show is the Surface Design Awards – now in its 12th year. The awards highlight and set a benchmark for the architectural and design achievements from the past year, across the world. New for 2024 is the surface product of the year category. The 2024 Awards are judged by an expert panel, co-chaired by Charlotte McCarthy, Head of Interiors at Heatherwick Studio and Nimi Attanayake, Director & co-founder of NimTim Architects – attracting more then 130 entries from 12 different countries, the judges will have the difficult task of choosing this years winners.
The Surface Design Show has been running for over fifteen years, establishing itself as a significant event to industry experts. The successful event serves as a platform for interactions and collaborations between manufactures and the marketplace, serving growth and advancements in material innovation.
