North Leeds project: Using glass to create luxury spaces

Founded in 2009 and based in Yorkshire, Verus Construction, the luxury new build construction specialist, creates unique homes and distinctive housing developments across Yorkshire.

Damian Barker, Founder and CEO discusses one of his recent multi-million pound housing projects in the sought-after Alwoodley in North Leeds. The construction specialist already represented a strong portfolio of successful, large-scale projects which were all secured through recommendations.

The project

The design team included Studio Map and Verus Construction, whose skills, expertise and meticulous attention to detail are showcased throughout the remarkable property.

The project aimed to create an elegant, spacious and functional family home surrounded by large grounds. The result is an exquisite, contemporary two storey detached house that combines minimalism and quiet luxury.

The multi-million pound project is complete with five bedrooms, each with walk-in dressing rooms and private bathrooms, a bar and recreation room, home gym, triple garage and an open-plan kitchen and dining area. The large ground floor boasts floor-to-ceiling glass doors that seamlessly connect the open-plan interiors to the tranquil and impressive garden.  Architecturally, the project makes use of geometric forms which are pivoted either side of the double height core of the home which is complemented by a modern flat roof to give the building a modern and sleek finish.

Using glass to fill homes with light

Upon entering the house, the expansive foyer and glass staircase greet you with an abundance of natural light. Courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors and windows, the spacious open-plan entertaining and living area effortlessly connects with the outdoors.

The property also features sky-frame structure glazing, creating a fully open-plan layout from all sides and levels of the property. Throughout the home, strategically placed feature windows also work to add architectural interest while maintaining an open and luxurious ambience.

The striking staircase and distinctive lighting highlight the geometric structure of the home which serves as a focal point within the open-plan living area. Incorporating glass steps and bannisters effortlessly fills the home with light, creating a bright and open-plan feel to the whole property.

Substituting conventional doors and walls with glass frames enhances the flow of space into the surrounding rooms and gardens.

The house celebrates both cohesion and simplicity through neutral colour palettes, glass staircases, and expansive glass bi-fold doors. These elements and touches of gold used throughout the home creates a sense of balance, calm and luxury.
