KITCHEN SPECIALIST CALLS ON GEC ANDERSON FOR HER OWN REFURBISHMENT
A Somerset based kitchen designer and supplier of bespoke appliances, as well as units and islands, has called on the services of GEC Anderson for the fit-out of her own home.
The 1990s property was actually constructed to blend in with its village location and is now nearing the end of a full internal refurbishment, carried out by Julie Parker and her partner, with the kitchen/utility being the final areas that they tackled. With more than a decade’s experience of designing and sourcing kitchen interiors for clients, Julie was fully confident in working with GEC for a project which required nearly 30 metres of made-to-measure stainless steel fabrications.
These included an integrated sink, drainer and food preparation surfaces beneath the window, surrounds for the restored Aga cooker, a continuous run along the opposite wall and the top for a large central island – as well as work-surfaces throughout the adjoining utility room.
All were produced to a relatively short timescale and delivered to site by a carrier with a vehicle chosen to suit the property’s comparatively inaccessible location.
Julie Parker comments: “The kitchen is the biggest and last project, involving moving the Aga to one side, creating the island and adding a lot of new storage space. I had come into contact with GEC originally through my work as a kitchen designer and had always been impressed by the company’s speed of response. “In the case of our house, there were seven separate 4m lengths required, with a wide variety of features, while the narrowness of the lanes here and the gradient of the drive up to the property meant the normal lorry would not have been suitable. GEC organized a smaller vehicle with two men to help carry all the crates up to the house, and all the installation work, led by my husband, went smoothly.
We are in the process of setting up a new business – “Best Kitchens On-line” and intend to offer our customers the chance to incorporate GEC Anderson worktops and sinks into their kitchens. We are loving using our new kitchen with the super smart as well as hygienic work-surfaces and we will be recommending them highly.”
